Paper Charms

Yes, I am a dope. I signed up for another art charm swap and this one has an Asian Paper theme. I have never made paper beads or charms before and you can tell by the few I've tried to make so far. So, I've tried origami butterflies, folded fans, rolled beads and puffy stars. I can't seem to fold small enough origami butterflies to use them as a charm so I'll have to stick with the fans, beads and stars. I see lots more practice in my future.

Other than my playing a bit today with paper I've been trying to finish up some client special orders. So far, two completed with a couple more to go. The first picture is of a long fused fine silver chain and the other is another long necklace with fused fine silver links, carnelian agate, coral and pearls. Both turned out great and I can't wait until my clients see them.

When I get all those paper charms finished I'll post another picture.

Have a great weekend.

Recycled Silver

So I joined this Art Charm group and it is all about making charms out of unusual objects and learning new techniques like resin, polymer clay and book making. Well in my brain storming I decided to make a charm holder and then dangles charms off of it. Instead of using some of my new silver wire I looked in my bag of silver scraps destined for the melting pot and out this came.

Kind of funky and definitely green and recycled.

Today I made nothing and took a little break...well not really. My mother and I went shopping, that qualifies as a break doesn't it. While we were out my wonderful hubby calls me to tell me we are going on a cruise in a few months.....woo hoo a real vacation. Needless to say our shopping took a turn and instead of shopping for some new fall fashions it was dressy cruise attire. It was so much more fun shopping with something in mind. Even better was the fact that all the items were on their summer clearance.

Have a great weekend folks.

Something New for 2009

As if I didn't have anything new to do. LOL I started a new web site with 1000 Markets late in December and have been adding new items and blog posts there. For all of my friends that follow me here, I thought I would leave a little tid bit of something new I created for a friend of mine. She watched our dogs (as you have seen in pictures in this blog) while we were on vacation in Tucson.

It is a multi strand fine silver link necklace with black onyx, agate, pearl and smokey quartz. The inspiration is a bracelet that I found in Tucson for her along with a smokey quartz pendant. We will be giving this to her this week but wanted to get a picture of it first. It turned out fantastic and will be very versatile. I would like to know what you think.
Visit my shop and look around. There are lots of shops and markets to check out, so if you are looking for something special in the handmade category, this is the new and upcoming place to buy.
